A new private actor has joined the group of donors supporting the EU Pollinator Hub’s leading partner, BeeLife. Cosmetic company Valmont now helps us work to improve a sustainable future where honeybees and wild pollinators can thrive. Valmont is leading a series of funding schemes with beekeeping and bee promotion initiatives as part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility. In the framework of its Essence of Bees product line, the firm has decided to support our work, setting an example for other companies interested in promoting the protection of honeybees.
Valmont is currently providing funding for data hunting and integration schemes that aim to combine noninvasive monitoring tools and observations by a network of beekeepers in northeast Italy’s Piedmont region. The primary objective of these efforts is to conduct an objective analysis of changes in honeybee populations and activities. Valmont’s contribution is particularly useful in helping BeeLife and the EU Pollinator Hub team centralize, integrate, and process collected data in Italy into the EU Pollinator Hub (www.pollinatorhub.eu).
Thanks to the partnership between BeeLife and Valmont, significant improvements have been made in collaboration with beekeeping associations and other partners in Italy to monitor bee health and support beekeeper activities. BeeLife has established agreements to share data with associations involved in monitoring bee health as part of its efforts to gather and integrate data into the EU Pollinator Hub. These agreements, data-sharing initiatives, and advancements in data cleaning (to prepare for integration into the Hub) have been carried out with organisations such as ASPROMIELE, UNAAPI, and the Osservatorio Nazionale dei Miele.
Valmont is donating a percentage of the proceeds from the sales of the Essence of Bees collection (more information available at www.lamaisonvalmont.com) to BeeLife to support the environment.
